Valtra ANTS-a revolutionary concept!
1.2.2011 11:02 GMT+0300
Tell us and others what you think of the future of customization!
Farmers and contractors in the future will need versatile, lightweight and powerful machinery that allows them to handle tasks beyond traditional tractor usage and maintain maximum efficiency on their farm. Valtra ANTS was designed to meet these challenges while respecting Valtra’s traditions.
ANTS is a play on words. It refers to Valtra’s current model series: A, N, T and S. But it also characterizes the concept. ANTS is strong, friendly, dynamic, agile and lightweight just like real ants.
Tell us what you think about the concept, what will the future of farming look like, what kind of machines will be needed and so on.

The challenges of this new concept are many: Simplicity, repairability , spare parts, cost, complex software.
I understant a desire for modular versatile vehicles, but why would someone Buy a single chassis and spend a lot on specialized modules which have occasional use, when there would only be one or perhaps two active vehicles working and a bunch of specialized parts left in the barn? Would it not be more efficient to rent specialized vehicles when needed from a central supplier? And it I was a central supplier would it not be better to have vehicles to rent rather than add on modules?
The very complex display shown in the video implies a very highly skilled operator.
If there is a shortage of workers, would it not be worse to have to find highly skilled operators? Even with driverless vehicles I wonder if there would be a skill shortage.
Would not a purpose built specialized machine not be more efficient than a complex modular one. If the terrain flat and controlled, I see limits to the need for highly adapable vehicles.
There appear to be many comples electronmechincial and hydraulic systems in each vehicle, needing specialized parts- how can field repairs be done efficiently? Isn"t there more to break?
How would field repairs be accomplished? By dealer mechanics? Or, hypothetically robots (where, when, how much money)
How would this compete in the third world where more and more agriculture is still needed and labour is cheap, but slowly becoming less abundant and affodable? China producesmany extremely simple and inexpensive machines .
There are enthusiasts who are considering open-source plans for machines, maybe this is the key to progress with new concepts. See global village construction set.
All things to think about when planning the next generation of machinery.
en ottais tommosta
Mie kyl vaihan Jontikkaan jos Valtra tommosii alkaa valmistaa, ku sitä nii pitää niist tän hetkisist traktoreist !
Jos raktoreista tulee tuommosia ni minä vaihan alaa!
This is not the future ! Just look at CAT to see the future. The D7E has a fully modular power plant supplying electricity to the electric wheel motors. This leads to 25% less fuel use (no transmission loss) If alternative fuel becomes a reality the power unit can simply be changed without the need for massive chassis changes.
The wheel motors can be fully independently mounted resulting in better operator comfort , better traction and increased forward speed.
ANTS is not the future CAT D7E type tractors are!
en ostaisi
siinä vaihees ku valtra muuttuu tuon näkööseksi niin minä lopeta traktoriilla ajon...
@Pam
Schade daß es kein Powershift geben wird!
Danke für die beantwortung meiner Frage

@waldifan_1: The new A Series models are equipped with an electro-hydraulic shuttle, but not with powershift. You can find the information here: http://www.valtra.com/news/press/4706.asp
or in German: http://www.valtra.at/news/press/4706.asp
More detailed information will be available within the next weeks.
wann gibt es mehr informationen über die neue A-Serie?
Wird es eine Lastschaltung geben?
